DO SOME PARENTS INVOLVE THEIR CHILDREN IN TOO MANY SPORTS ACTIVITIES?

on:Children can be involved in too many sports teams and activities, such as football, basketball, baseball and soccer, without any free time for themselves.
Research has shown that children who lead structured lives, that is, going from practice to practice to practice to practice, without “down time” for themselves, are deprived of the opportunity to develop their creative talents. I’m a big believer in sports participation, but like anything else, it should be in moderation. Children need to have time alone; they need to be left to their own devices so they can experience different challenges in their own personal lives and come up with their own creative solutions. The more free time they have for themselves, the more they will be able to experience innovative ways of doing things. And by the way, I wouldn’t only apply this to sports, but also to excessively playing computer games and watching television.
